What is Repiping?
Repiping involves replacing the entire indoor hot and cold water distribution system, including branch lines and main lines. This includes all cut-off valves (fixtures and main), and supply tubes. If you are considering a bathroom or kitchen remodel, this would be a good time to replace old fixtures or valves, as they will already be disconnected for the repiping job. In some instances, the water main outside that feeds water to your home, may need to be replaced as well.
Do you need to repipe your home?
If you are experiencing any of the following signs in your home, then it may be time for a repiping:
• Poor water volume or water pressure
• Does your shower water get too hot if someone flushes the toilet?
• Does it take forever to fill your sink with water?
• When your water is running, does the volume change when someone else turns on water?
• Does water trickle out of your faucets?
If any of these conditions exist, call Frontier Plumbing in Portland, Oregon for an evaluation. Your poor water pressure could be caused by aging, galvanized steel piping that is rusting closed and restricting water-flow.
Red, rusty-looking water?
It could be a result of galvanized pipes that are rusting away. Rusting pipes can also have these effects:
- Rust particles and minerals plugging up valves, dishwashers, faucets, toilets, etc.
- Staining on plumbing fixtures and finishes.
Rust minerals and particles are very unhealthy for your body and cause health issues when ingested. Contact Frontier Plumbing for an evaluation of your home’s pipes.
